I'M not sure. It seems like a remake but made from scratch. It looks cool nonetheless, though. They use today's graphics, but unlike what Sega did to new Sonic games, this fan game sticks to old-skool 2D Sonic style that made Sonic series awesome.

If anyone's worried they might not have time to play it, there are only 3 acts in it anyway. Probably takes around 10 minutes at the most to beat it. Of course, you might have to worry about becoming addicted and playing it over and over

Indeed. I tried some of the new sonics but I couldn't get used to them. There was Sonic Adventure that wasn't too bad, though.

I hope that Sonic Fan Remix gets finished.

I think everyone has a right to not know some stuff, and in this case I know Sonic the Hedgehog had them. I just thought you meant this beta had one too.
